Saturday, November 16, 10am - Noon, Intro to Stenciling Workshop
This workshop will be led by Amy Smith, an artist whose work is shown throughout Los Angeles and in art fairs across the United States. Amy makes incredible collaged pieces featuring words and figures created by stencils that she hand cuts. In this interactive workshop, she’ll teach you the basics including creating stencils from computer generated graphics, hand-drawings & lettering. She’ll briefly cover detailed stencils, block-out stencils, materials and painting techniques.
You’ll make a stencil using materials provided. All levels, including beginners, are welcome, but please be prepared to use an Exacto knife.
Workshop is limited to 14 people. Your name will be on list at door once you purchase ticket -- bringing confirmation is not necessary. If the event is not marked sold out, tickets are available so come on down! We'd love to have you join us.
Parking is available on the street, as well as at the Trader Joe's lot at Venice & Culver and the lot at Cardiff & Culver where it's free for the first hour and $1 per 30 minutes thereafter.
All events at The Whole 9 Gallery are family friendly and help to fund the life-changing work of our non-profit, The Peace Project.
